Day 4 - Jan 31 (Sunday)

Person of the Day: Tim Cockerill "Chase Ono"
Tim is the person behind the scenes, he is our chase van driver and keeps an eye on us..... He even had the heat turned up in all of our rooms when we arrived in Sudbury, and drove with George on Friday night back to Gaylord to pick up the new sled. He also found our secret stash of homemade chocolate chip cookies, we always save for the end of the trip..... He claims he is innocent!! We think his breath gives him away? and the crumbs on the seat might be a clue.... This is all minor compared to the alternative...... no chase

Journey in a Nutshell
George begged the motel manager to open the restaurant at 7 A.M instead of 8 so we could get an early start... We had trouble finding gas for the machines, due to it being Sunday and Canada..... (there does not seem to be many stations...) We drove 2 times to the only open gas station (4 miles) with the van with 8 - 1 gallon gas cans, that we carry as spares. We finally left about 8:30, We rode over 220 miles today, from Sudbury, Ont. to Timmons, Ont., riding on trails ranging from super trails (just like an expressway) to a trail that we think was just completed yesterday, through the swamp.... by far it was the best trails we have seen so far. The only gas station we could find open about half way cost us about an average of $27 canadian.... per machine (you could fill your truck in Michigan for that). George and now Betty got sick to their stomachs today, after some up and down and around trails, that felt like you rode a roller coaster at Six Flags for hours. John wants everyone to know that he gave Pete a snow douche today..... there's one problem with that.... Pete doesn't no when to quit..... look for more on this accelerating feud. By the way, for those people with either a very poor monitor or printer.... the Sow's on Saturday's page are not BEAR's!

Image Trek

This picture was taken just a few miles out of Sudbury, the tree's looked like they were made of glass and sparkled. All day we kept running into areas were the trees were hanging heavy with ice, in one case we went through an area that had burned just a few years ago and the contrast of the burnt trees, snow and ice, was very eerie.
Another example of the spectacular scenery that we encountered today.....
We experienced a sparkling sunset through the ice covered trees and then arrived to a full moon raising as we pulled into our motel in Timmons, Ont.
