Map of our route today!
Journey
in a Nutshell
We left Caro, Michigan on Wednesday afternoon and got into St. Ignace,
Michigan about 7 PM.. we got our gear and sleds unloaded and checked into
the Howard Johnsons... This morning we got on the trail about 8 A.M. and
road toward Detour, Michigan, which is on the eastern edge of the upper
Peninsula, this is the site of George's 1999 crash
(there are still yellow marks on the wall of the restaurant). We caught
the ferry to Drummond Island at 12:40 P.M. and crossed over the ice bridge
to St. Joseph Island, Ontario, Canada, then we crossed another ice bridge
(defined as trailed marked by planting old christmas trees in the ice)
to Bruce Mines, Ontario. We arrived in Thessalon about 4:00 PM. At
dinner we ran into Ed Bennick, formally of Caro, who graduated a year ahead
of Pete, he reconized Pete beard and all.
